Braunfels Castle
It looks like a fairytale come true: the mighty Castle with its pinnacled silhouette thrones on the tip of a basalt rock just behind the beautiful market place with its half-timbered houses in the picturesque medieval town of Braunfels and welcomes its visitors from afar. Family owned for 800 years, the castle is a living landmark, filled with special art treasures and still inhabited today. In the course of the centuries the former fortress has changed and was continuously remodeled and expanded. From the top of the highest dungeon, the visitor has an impressive country-wide view. The eventful development from fortress to castle, as well as the prince’s family history, the connections throughout Europe and the United States are all brought to life during the tours. The most beautiful premises of the spacious castle complex are presented on the castle tour every hour, seven days of the week.
